« Une Afrique bâtie sur le droit !»
Nous, juristes africains, profondément préoccupés par la situation dramatique aux plans politique, économique et social dans laquelle vit la majorité des populations africaines alors que ce beau continent regorge d’immenses atouts humains et de ressources naturelles susceptibles de combler tous les besoins fondamentaux des peuples africains ;
Considérant que la patrimonialisation du pouvoir conduit à la mauvaise gouvernance et à la déliquescence des Etats africains tout en perpétuant l’ignorance des règles et valeurs tant universelles qu’africaines;
Considérant que le développement harmonieux et durable du continent ne peut être réalisé sans la connaissance et la mise en œuvre effective du droit aux niveaux continental, régional et national selon la volonté des peuples africains;
Convaincus que seules cette connaissance et cette mise en œuvre du droit conduiront les Africains à bâtir une nouvelle Afrique telle qu’ils le désirent ;
Déterminés à œuvrer pour une meilleure visibilité et l’effectivité du droit sur le continent;
Nous nous engageons solennellement à mettre nos compétences juridiques et humaines au service de l’Afrique pour un changement profond et efficace des mentalités et conditions de vie sur notre continent.

The promotion and protection of human rights and freedoms in Africa continues to face
multiple challenges. While progress and positive developments were observed in some
African regions, regress has been reported in others. Internal armed conflicts in addition to
terrorist acts and military coup d’états or unconstitutional change of governments are the
major challenges facing the protection of human rights in Africa. The Democratic Republic
of Congo and Sudan are the scenes of massive violations and destruction of lives and
livelihoods. The African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights has achieved
important progress in human rights standard settings and in building cooperation with
African states and intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. The object of this
briefing is to set the human rights agenda for civil society partners for 2026 and beyond.
